INFORMING A WIDE SPECTRUM
OF VOTERS
The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections chose Vistra to execute a nonpartisan voter education campaign during the two months leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
The Vistra team developed an outreach strategy with several key objectives. These included boosting Early Voting and Vote-By-Mail participation, increasing overall voter engagement, sharing essential information with the public and building confidence in the election process.
EXERCISING THE RIGHT TO VOTE
Our creative strategy connected with a wide spectrum of voters and included educational outreach to new and infrequent voters. The campaign leveraged the iconic “I Voted” stickers as a captivating creative hook.
The campaign employed multiple channels including television, radio, movie theater, newspaper, magazine, ads on HART buses, ride-share platforms and airport advertising. Additionally, brochures, digital native and display ads on various websites, home page takeovers, video pre-roll commercials on popular streaming platforms like YouTube and social media posts on Instagram were strategically utilized. Out-of-home media, including billboards and gas station pump screens, were strategically placed throughout the county.
The integrated 2020 Voter Education Campaign delivered a staggering 121 million campaign impressions and secured 18,000 placements across broadcast, print, radio and billboards. Notably, voter registration experienced an increase of nearly 10% in 2020 and the percentage of registered voters who exercised their right to vote rose by 5% compared to Hillsborough County’s previous presidential election in 2016.
